We’re at the start of a new year which brings with it opportunities for new year’s resolutions, attempts to work off the excessive consumption of turkey as well as a chance to get back into more of a normal routine. Here’s five things you can join in with at Sunnyside over the next month to get your year off to a flying start!
For anyone of any age, Messy Church kicks off in 2016 on Saturday 9th January starting at 3.30pm. If you’ve not been before there’s a great mix of craft related chaos followed by a few songs of worship which finishes as we join together in an amazing home cooked dinner. We run Messy Church every month on a Saturday afternoon and all are very welcome to come and join.
Normal service resumes
Following a Christmas break the teams that run our regular midweek activities are rested, refreshed and raring to go as we kick off normal activities at Sunnyside. Our senior citizens lunch club returns on Monday lunchtimes as does Smarties our Friday afternoon toddler group, not forgetting The Edge, the Friday night youth club. Why not invite a friend along to any of these regular groups?
It’s a little further away but you’ll need to get the date in your diary so you don’t miss it… Sunday 31st January is our United Service combined with the launch of TRIO, the new giving scheme we’re adopting at Sunnyside. TRIO stands for The Responsibility Is Ours and we’re inviting everyone that’s connected to Sunnyside to join in taking responsibility for the church as we approach an exciting new season.
Serve on a team
Perhaps you’ve thought you’d like to take up a new activity during 2016 or serve in a particular way? We’re always looking for people to join the dedicated team of volunteers who serve at Sunnyside. Could you consider cooking for Messy Church or helping to clean the building? Check out the Volunteer page to get involved.
Plan for the year ahead
The summer might seem like a long way away but now is the perfect time to book a break away with others from the Sunnyside family. Each year a group head to Somerset for New Wine, a week long christian festival. If you’re interested in coming along then contact the office for more info. The Youth also head down to Soul Survivor, a Christian festival for teenagers, get the dates in the diary and book now!
There’s all sorts to look forward to throughout the year, stay connected so you don’t miss out!
