Autumn has arrived. Looking around outside its clear to see that the seasons are changing and despite a brief flurry of sunshine at the start of the week, it appears that we’ve waved goodbye to summer. However, whilst the arrival of colder mornings and darker evenings means bad news for some, it signals good news for others. We’re getting ready to celebrate Harvest at Sunnyside, a time when we remember all the good things that God has given us, particularly in creation. Join us as we celebrate together during the first weekend of October, we’ve got lots going on.
Saturday 1st October: Messy Church
Our monthly Messy Church service meets on a Saturday afternoon at 3.30pm until 5.30pm. There’s a great mix of different creative craft activities and finishes with a short worship celebration. It’s a great way for the whole family to enjoy time together and we even finish with a meal! This month we’re incorporating harvest as we think about giving thanks for all that we’ve got. If you’ve never been before, why not come along and join us?
Sunday 2nd October
During our usual Sunday services we’ll be focusing particularly on Harvest as we gather together to worship God. Join us at either The Nine, Ten Thirty or Six-Thirty as we consider what it looks like to live a life of gratitude in response to the generosity of God. We’ll also be collecting food gifts for vulnerable and elderly people living in our community plus our usual DENS Trolley will be out if you’d like give resources to homeless people living locally.
Monday 3rd October: Harvest Songs of Praise
Join us for our termly Songs of Praise service followed by afternoon tea. This is a service filled with joy as we welcome our friends from Sunnyside Rural Trust as well as those who attended our Monday senior citizens Lunch Club. The service consists of some traditional harvest hymns, readings and prayers and all are welcome to stay in the Church Hall afterwards for tea and cake. If you’d like us to arrange transport to this service, please contact the Church Office. The service starts at 2pm in the Church.
“Love and truth belong to God’s people;
goodness and peace will be theirs.
On earth people will be loyal to God,
and God’s goodness will shine down from heaven.
The Lord will give his goodness,
and the land will give its crops.
Goodness will go before God and prepare a way for him.”
