Melanie Hammond & Pam Davis are excited to announce a new event, M.I.A (Mission In Action), being launched this month.  The aim is to help serve the mission partners that we as a church support with practical, hands on action, depending on their current or future needs.

There are 5 drop-in sessions planned this year – February, April, June, September and November, depending on need.

We will be making pillowcase dresses to send, initially to Jenga in Uganda (Bex Henderson) and knitted toys for Romanian Shoeboxes as well as collecting items requested by our mission partners.

In preparation for the M.I.A launch in February, we would be very grateful if you could donate any of the following items to get us started:

  • Pillowcases (new or lightly used)
  • 1/4” elastic
  • Bias binding (any width)
  • Cotton fabric (to make bias binding/dress)
  • Wool

In December Robbie Keen from Jenga visited Sunnyside and he has appealed for the following priority items:

  • Mobile phones with chargers (second hand is fine)
  • laptops with working battery
  • good quality balls (especially footballs with pump)
  • underwear for children
  • bras for women

There is an M.I.A collection box in the church lobby for your donations/gifts.  We will be regularly sending packages to mission partners so if you would like to make a donation towards the cost of postage instead, that too would be most welcome.

Bring your sewing machine or knitting needles with you!
