We’re excited that on Sunday 2nd July we will be unveiling two brand new stained glass windows in the north wall of the church. These have been generously given in memory of Maureen Lamb who for many years attended Sunnyside. We’ve got a long running history of having windows dedicated to the memory of faithful servants at Sunnyside (just look around the church to see more of these!) and we’re delighted that Maureen’s family have given these in her name.
The windows themselves look absolutely beautiful! We’ve been calling them the ‘Holy Spirit’ windows as they depict the movement and work of God’s spirit and will be displayed at the front of the church where everyone can see them. The windows have been designed by Sophie Hacker, an artist based near Chichester. You can see more of her work by visiting her website.
Our celebration of these two new windows will be happening this Sunday. They will be unveiled at 10am, after the 9am service and will be followed by celebratory drinks. Therefore, we expect the 9am service to be slightly shorter than usual as well as the 10.30am service starting slightly later than usual. The more observant reader will note that very rarely does the 10.30am service on time, but we’ve been advised that this week the 10.30 will be ‘proper late’ and not just ‘Sunnyside late’!!
Do come and join us as we celebrate an exciting moment in our church’s history whilst remembering Maureen.
