Here I am…

‘Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.’  (John 13.14-15)

Jesus told us we were all to follow his example and serve one another. He gives each and everyone of us gifts and talents so that together we have all that we need to be his church. I wonder how God is calling you to serve at Sunnyside.

May be God has given you a passion for hospitality so you love enabling people to enjoy time together. Perhaps he is calling you to join the coffee team which enables us to offer hospitality to those who come to church on Sunday morning and a relaxed space in which to chat with one another.

May be God has given you a passion for our older folk, for helping them to avoid the loneliness that is so tragically common in our society. Perhaps he is calling you to join the lunch club team which enables a group of older members of our community to come together regularly for a reflection, delicious meal and most importantly, company to share them with.

May be God has given you a passion for our children and young people, a real desire that they would come to know Jesus and grow in their faith. Perhaps he is calling you to join the children or youth teams so that our younger members may develop as faithful followers of Jesus.

These are just a few of the ways in which God calls us and equips us. Serving is not an optional extra for followers of Jesus. Although it will look different for all of us and vary at different times of our lives, we are all called to serve in some way. It is how we share God’s love with those around us. It is how we will grow as individual followers of Jesus and as a church family.

‘As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love’ (John 15.9-10)

How is God calling you to serve? Why not have a chat with me and together we can see how you can help build up the body of Christ at Sunnyside.

with love and prayers
Rebecca
