Our Father in heaven

We are now half way through Thy Kingdom Come so it is a good time to ask: how are you getting on with our 11 days of prayer? How are you finding it praying for your five people? Have you worked out what do to about your one person so you can share the love of Jesus with them? How has God been at work? What answers to your prayers have you seen? Do share what is happening with others so we can all be encouraged by the ways in which God is at work in our lives.

It is not too late to sign up for a slot (or more) in the prayer room. Click here for the link to the on-line calendar or speak to Rebecca who will be happy to sign you up. Be warned, most people find that an hour is not enough!

Some of us are using the Thy Kingdom Come app which gives some daily reflections, films and podcast to help us to pray. I was particularly struck by this short film from Krish Kandiah who talks about what it means for us to be God’s adopted children. Why not have a look?

But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because
you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, ‘Abba, Father.’ So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child;
and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
Galatians 4.4-7

NB: It is important for us to remember that this includes girls and women too. It is just that being a son gave someone far more rights in Paul’s day than being a daughter. All who believe in Jesus can call God ‘Father’ and that is good news for all his beloved children for God adopts us as his precious sons and daughters!
