We are planning some improvements to our facilities at Sunnyside to make them more welcoming, usable and accessible. Following our PCC meeting on 17th June, we are delighted to update you on our plans.
The consultation with church members and hall users revealed clear priorities and the PCC agreed in March that these would be seating, redecoration and flooring so that the lobby will present a warm, modern and friendly welcome. As we said at the beginning of the lobby project, this work will be fully funded by a generous legacy which is why it is happening now.
Three other areas in need of improvement also emerged during the consultation process: the paths, the accessible loo and baby change and the lobby doors. The PCC agreed last week to use the capital fund (which is money set aside to do larger one-off maintenance projects) to tackle these projects. We are pleased to inform you that the paths will be renewed and level access created from the main church gate; the accessible loo and baby change will be renovated; and the lobby entrance doors will be made power assisted.
We hope that these works will make our buildings even more welcoming and help us to share the love of God with those who come to Sunnyside even more effectively. We will let you know when we have dates for the start of the work but meanwhile, if you have any questions about these projects, please speak with Rebecca, Lesley or Mark.
