Monday 29th November 2021 saw the eagerly awaited return of our ‘In Conversation With’ series. 18 of us over 9 households plus one House Group came together for an interesting hour or so listening to Sam Houiellebecq talk about his time working and travelling in South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania. This included hearing about children fromThe Garden of Eden home in Kamulu (see their dancing here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGbVObtE–_KNDFeWkOP4mw). We had a chance to ask lots of questions ranging from interest in Sam’s journey of faith, to how he celebrated Christmas in Africa, to his family background, to what his friend Anand (who some at Sunnyside supported) is currently doing, to what or where Sam feels God is calling him next. We also had a time of prayer and Sam has provided some prayer points we would be grateful if you can consider including in your prayers:
Prayer Points:
- “Natalie” (not her real name): A girl removed from the Pokot tribe due to abuse and who is being provided safe accommodation and education. Prayers for her physical and spiritual protection, and her education, her future and her walk with God.
- Anand (Sam’s Indian friend from YWAM): That God will continue to provide and bless him physically and spiritually.
- COVID: Friends around the world, including South Africa with the new variant.
- Sam’s future: That he can be led by God in his will and for discernment for what he has in store for the future.
The video file of the talk (we did not record the Q&A to allow open discussion) are available below for you:
Our ‘In Conversation With’ series will continue in a midweek evening slot on Zoom in 2022 (dates will change each month to fit around other church activities). Please let Katie Randall-Stratton know if you have any ideas for talks and/or links with Mission Focus organisations or individuals you’d like to put forward.
