Each month we pray for two of our mission partners. During October we are praying for Church Mission Society (CMS) and DENS.
Church Mission Society: Chris & Veronica first visited Sunnyside in 2012 at the start of a challenging mission life into which God called them with the Church Mission Society (CMS). They have visited us several times since with their two children, Samara and Gabrio and have since had an addition to their family in their son, Zeal, aged 2. Their home is near Valencia, which Chris also uses as the administrative office of the charity of which he is International Director and which periodically requires him to travel overseas. Additionally, they both share in ministering to people of all faiths in their local community. Please pray for:
- their food parcel distribution ministry that it would continue seamlessly in their short absence and for the way in which that is bringing refugees from the war in Ukraine to their church to worship peacefully alongside Russian speakers whose views of this conflict may differ.
- Shabir, a former sex and drug addict, befriended by one of the workers in the charity, which Chris leads, who’s turned over a new leaf and become a strong, church-going Christian through that friendship, that he may thrive and grow in his discipleship.
- the family’s current three week trip to UK, the first since Covid, for good health, safe travel, an ease in completing several important administrative chores here for CMS and for themselves and for continuity in Samara & Gabrio’s home-schooling, whilst here.
DENS works to support and empower vulnerable single homeless people and others in crisis to transform their lives It seeks to alleviate poverty for the people of Dacorum.
- Let us pray as it has seen a sharp increase in demand on all services; The Elms hostel, the day centre and the foodbank
- Let us pray for the growing work of the trauma-related mental health outreach team; for staff, volunteers and service users
- Let us pray for the resettlement service that helps people move out of hostel accommodation back into the community
- May all staff and volunteers be strengthened as they deal with anticipated further increase in demand this winter
