Mission Focus : March 2023

Each month we pray for two of our mission partners. During March we are praying for DENS and Elim Missions (Heidi Longworth).

DENS aim to be the first port of call for people in Dacorum who are homeless, in poverty and social exclusion. They support and empower them to take the next positive steps in their lives. They do this by providing access to temporary and short term accommodation, by giving access to emergency food and other provisions and to advice and training.

They have asked us to pray:

  • that people will give generously during this difficult time
  • that as they expand their counselling service, both counsellors and clients would be kept safe, for good pairings and fruitful conversations. Pray especially for student counsellors.
  • for all those who come to DENS many of whom feel lost or rejected may feel love and compassion from staff and volunteers

Elim Missions (Heidi Longworth). Many of you will remember Heidi as our Music & Worship Leader in the first decade of this century, or if you’re a more recent Sunnysider and came to our Parish Weekend Away at High Leigh in October, you will have been fortunate to have heard her very sensitive playing there and may even have met her then. She spent the next decade in Romania, latterly at the Deo Gloria Church in Hunedoara, acting as its Worship Leader. After a spell back in England this past couple of years studying for an MA in Transformational Leadership at All Nations College, she has recently returned to Deo Gloria, but also now as a mission partner for Elim Missions. Click on the link for her latest letter, thanking us for our Gift Day donation and giving us some insights into how her life is now back in Romania. Gift Day Thank You letter from Heidi.

Here are her 3 prayer requests:

  • for continued peace and protection in the light of the recent earthquakes
  • for her studies, particularly her dissertation – that she will get a good balance between studying, doing ministry and spending time with people, and also that the research itself will be a blessing to the church there.
  • for DeoGloria Church in this post-pandemic phase and particularly for the youth group of mostly unchurched young people – that they will come to know and follow Jesus. And also for the youth leaders – that we would have wisdom in how to guide and serve this new generation
