Mission Focus : April 2023

Each month we pray for two of our mission partners. During April we are praying for Age UK Dacorum and Mission Aviation Fellowship.

Age UK Dacorum is local independent charity that seeks to promote the well-being of all older people and their carers in Dacorum by helping make their later lives fulfilling, enjoyable and without isolation. They offer a range of services such as bereavement support, handyman appointments, an advice service, clubs etc. They have asked that we pray :

  • for the changes they will face as they merge with AgeUK Hertfordshire and as they develop their bereavement advice line to offer more face to face and ongoing counselling for both bereaved elderly and carers
  • for increased funding to enable them to engage with more people
  • for more volunteers to come forward
  • wisdom as they seek to support Berkhamsted in its desire to become a dementia friendly town

Missionary Aviation Fellowship (MAF) and for Sam & Abby Baguma based in Uganda. Sam’s role is to oversee the finance functions in MAF’s E Africa programmes in Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and S Sudan, whilst Abbey teaches in a Kampala school when she’s not caring for their two daughters, Rachel and Rebecca. Their most recent video highlights the impetus from over 60 NGO’s and MAF to provide an air strip closer to a huge refugee camp around Yube, which is a temporary home to 250,000 people, who’ve fled the conflict in Southern Sudan. Currently access to the camp by road is formidably difficult and would be hugely simplified by a direct MAF flight from Kampala. Sam gives thanks to God, for the increased demand for MAF flights, which are finally back to pre-Covid levels. However please pray with them, and if you like to view the Baguma Family Update March 2023 click https://youtu.be/LjiAlIynfoM :

  • for more pilots to join the MAF scheme
  • for peace in the region as there is renewed fighting in Eastern Congo
  • that the new airstrip in Yube, northern Uganda, will be successfully built in the coming months
  • for Rachel, who is struggling with school anxieties at this time
  • for them all over Easter, as Abby is flying to the UK to see her mum, who is unwell, while Sam & the girls remain in Uganda
