Serving at Sunnyside

Most of what we are able to do at Sunnyside is due to the willingness of so many of our church family to give of their time and talents.

We encourage everyone to serve because:

  • It is what Jesus calls us to do as his followers
  • It enables us to do the things we feel called to do as a church
  • It is a fun way of getting to know people better
  • The more people involved, the less the burden falls on the few

How we serve will depend on our gifts and talents, and will look different at different times of our lives. Over the coming weeks we will be focussing on different ways of serving at Sunnyside. Here are some of the teams you will hear more about:

Sundays: worship, service wardens, welcomers, coffee team, readers, intercessions, prayer ministry, Sunday’s Cool, sound desk and tech team
Action Groups: all our groups have room for new members, as do our Gift Day teams
Children and Young People: Messy Church
Pastoral: pastoral visitors and the bereavement team

There are also opportunities to serve in practical ways like joining the gardening team, washing the communion linen, cleaning the brass and wooden candlesticks and doing some of the rotas.

How is God calling you to serve? If you would like to talk about serving at Sunnyside, please speak to Rebecca or one of the staff who will be happy to help you.
