Melanie Hammond & Pam Davis launched a new event, M.I.A (Mission In Action), in February 2017 and due to popular demand, we will now run the group on a monthly basis! The aim is to help serve the mission partners that we as a church support with practical, hands on action, depending on their current or future needs.
We will be making pillowcase dresses to send, initially to Jenga in Uganda (Bex Henderson) and knitted toys for Romanian Shoeboxes as well as collecting items requested by our mission partners.
We would be very grateful if you could donate any of the following items to help us with our work:
- Pillowcases (new or lightly used)
- 1/4” elastic
- Bias binding (any width)
- Cotton fabric (to make bias binding/dress)
In December Robbie Keen from Jenga visited Sunnyside and he has appealed for the following priority items:
- Mobile phones with chargers (second hand is fine)
- laptops with working battery
- good quality balls (especially footballs with pump)
- underwear for children
- bras for women
There is an M.I.A collection box in the church lobby for your donations/gifts. We will be regularly sending packages to mission partners so if you would like to make a donation towards the cost of postage instead, that too would be most welcome.
Bring your sewing machine or knitting needles with you! However, there are some tasks that don’t require any sewing machine or knitting needles so you can still join in and help us. Otherwise, simply pop in for a cup of coffee, cake and a chat!
