projectors, cameras and ChurchSuite

As you will doubtless have noticed, we’ve been doing a lot of work on the technology around the church over the last few weeks.

As you return to the church you will see we have replaced one of the projectors, to improve the quality of the pictures on the screen

We have also invested in a new camera for the live streaming of services via the internet.  This Sunday’s service was recorded using the new camera, and we expect to be broadcasting live in September – subject to some testing to confirm our internet bandwidth is sufficient.

Finally, we are in the process of implementing a system called ChurchSuite, which will enable us to manage and process a range of information that’s critical to the church.  ChurchSuite will help us to manage rotas, bookings, DBS and safeguarding records, calendars and a number of other functions that are required for the day-to-day running of the church.

Crucial to the success of ChurchSuite is the accuracy of its data.  We have imported information from a variety of existing systems.  Some of this information pertains to you as an individual, we would like (a) to ensure it’s accurate and (b) for you to confirm the information you’re prepared to share with other members of the church family via ChurchSuite.  Please note that by default, only your name will be shared.

Over the next couple of weeks you will receive an email from ChurchSuite, entitled ‘Sunnyside Church Consent Request’.  When you click on the “Review and grant consent” button at the bottom of the mail, you will be taken to a form in three sections, as follows:

The “Details” section allows you to confirm, correct and/or add your personal details (name, address etc).

The “Privacy” section enables you to choose which of your personal details (phone number, address, email address) you would like to make visible to other users of the system.

The “Communication” section enables you to choose how you receive communication from the church (email or SMS (text), generally, and/ or as part of a rota team).

Finally you will be asked to confirm your consent to the church holding this information.

If you could please complete the exercise promptly, this will allow us to go live with the system – at which point you will be given a login to the system, which will allow you to view information and register for events.

This is an exciting new development which will reduce the levels of admin; facilitate communication; and provide increased visibility of Sunnyside events, so we would welcome your support.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Rebecca or Tim Lines.

Please keep it as simple as possible for those of us who are not computer literate?
