Appeal for Ukraine

Many of you will already responded last week to the terrible crisis in Ukraine and its surrounding countries with an individual donation and that’s fine, but there is always something impactful about pooling our gifts as a church community.

Last week, the Disasters Emergency Committee (commonly known as DEC) launched its Ukraine appeal to fund a humanitarian response to the crisis. The government pledged to match fund it up to a limit of £25million, but it has already raised £120million in its first week.

DEC consists of 15 aid agencies which are well known to the British public including faith-based agencies, including TearFund, Christian Aid and World Vision.

Mission Action Group has recommended that all one off donations made to Sunnyside Church over these next two or three weeks, whether online, by credit card or by cheque with a reference UKRAINE will be sent to the DEC Appeal, as well as cash donations placed in the yellow bucket at our church services.

If you would prefer to use a credit card, Sunnyside has a new card reader which has its own SIM card and no longer requires a mobile phone to activate it. This will be available at our morning services this Sunday and next.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Peter Hyatt (873191) or Diana White (380283). Peter will also be able to give you the church bank account details should you need them.
