Daily Reflection 8: 25th May

This is a reflection to help you pray during Thy Kingdom Come. There will be a reflection for each day which will focus on the two main themes of TKC this year: The character of God and living the kingdom through love and service. They have been written by different members of Sunnyside Church. We suggest you ask God to speak to you through the words and picture before you begin, then read slowly through the reflection. What is God saying to you? How might you respond?

Bible reading: Matthew 13.31-32
He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

Reflection: The God of small things
Whoever would have believed that one of those tiny mustard seeds, sitting in our kitchen spice racks, could sprout into a huge tree like this, measuring up to 20 ft high and wide? Yet that’s just how God’s kingdom can take a footing in our world, transforming fragile faith into life-changing power!

Prayer
Lord, take my weak faith and actions, and turn them into a powerful force for good. May your kingdom come in my life, today.
