Daily Reflection 9: 26th May

This is a reflection to help you pray during Thy Kingdom Come. There will be a reflection for each day which will focus on the two main themes of TKC this year: The character of God and living the kingdom through love and service. They have been written by different members of Sunnyside Church. We suggest you ask God to speak to you through the words and picture before you begin, then read slowly through the reflection. What is God saying to you? How might you respond?

Part 1 of this reflection is today; part 2 is tomorrow.

Bible readings
John 20.19-21
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’ After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’

2 Corinthians 3.3
You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

Reflection: A letter from Christ part 1
We may be challenged by Paul’s analogy of our lives and service as a letter from Christ, perhaps wondering what kind of letter we are going to be today to those to whom we are sent, invited or otherwise. Will our lives bring grace, encouragement or invigoration? Will our letter, our message, tell recipients something they are longing to hear yet hardly dare to believe in? Will it lift their hearts or make them feel more alive, more loved, than they did before?

And will Christ send me a letter during this time of Thy Kingdom Come? Will I be shown something of God’s love and compassion, his power, his tenderness or his challenge? Will I recognise God’s hand-writing in that person’s presence?

Prayer
Come Holy Spirit
