Mission Focus: May 2024

Each month we pray for two of our mission partners. During May we are praying for the Hospice of St Francis and Mission Aviation Fellowship.

The Hospice of St Francis aims to be a community where people with life limiting illnesses live well and where their families receive the support they require.

They ask us:

  • to give thanks for 50 years of provision of this care in Berkhamsted
  • to pray for current fundraising events and that more funding opportunities/donors would be made clear, especially as NHS funding has reduced considerably
  • to pray for staff and volunteers and for all those who come into contact with the hospice, that they may find it a place of peace.

Mission Aviation Fellowship

Sam & Abby Baguma are based in Kampala, UgandaSam’s role is the Development and Support Manager for the East Africa MAF programmes overseeing finance and legal functions in the region, as well as Deputy Country Director for Uganda. When she’s not caring for their two daughters, Rachel and RebeccaAbby teaches at Acacia International Christian school, which both girls attend and where Sam is also Chair of the School Board. Please pray for:

  • Sam as he leads a project to reach isolated communities on the islands of Lake Victoria, especially for the process of purchasing the float plane for the Uganda Programme.  This will make a significant impact upon the health, education and welfare of the more than 250,000 inhabitants of its nearly 200 islands.
  • Sam’s efforts, in conjunction with JENGA (the mission charity for which Bex works) and others in the development sector to find and fund an airfield for Mbale, a city of 100,000 plus people. This would significantly improve its connectivity with the rest of Uganda.
  • Acacia school, which particularly caters for the children of missionary parents, by providing a well-rounded Christian education. Please pray for the two girls as they learn and develop, for their Mum’s three day equivalent teaching role and for Sam’s guidance of the School’s Board.
