Bible Reading: Matthew 13:33

Jesus told them another parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like yeast, which a woman takes and hides in three large measures of wheat flour until the whole is risen.’

Reflection

Yeast can’t be seen in the making of bread but it makes all the difference. The kingdom of heaven is like yeast. It makes a difference in people’s lives and in the life of the world even when we can’t see it. In fact, like yeast, it affects everything, the whole of life.

I find this parable encouraging as I reflect on the fact that I have prayed for several of the same people to come to know and love Jesus for more years than I care to remember. The fact that I can’t see any change does not mean that God is not active, prompting them to come to know him. His work is often unseen, like that of the yeast in the bread.

Give thanks to God that he is at work in the lives of the 5 people you are praying for even if you and they don’t notice it.
