Bible reading – John 14:16-18
“…I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth… you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”
Reflection
Jesus promised His disciples that He would not leave them feeling comfortless and abandoned, like orphans. He promised He would give them the Holy Spirit, who is another
- counsellor
- comforter
- helper
- advocate
- intercessor and
- strengthener (see Amplified Bible) just like Him.
And He has given us His Holy Spirit too, Who is within us and alongside us at all times, never leaving us or abandoning us; He always guides us into the truth.
