Bible reading – John 7:37 (NKJV)
“If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.”
Reflection
I have a small copy of a picture that is on display in Apsley House, Piccadilly, London. This painting by the great 17th-century Spanish artist Velázquez is entitled “The Water Seller of Seville”. It reminds me of the One who offers the water of life to needy people. The water seller, in his poverty and worn clothes, is a noble figure who meets the needs of ordinary people. The man and the boy are brought together as they both hold the water glass.
Prayer
I thank thee, Lord Jesus, that thy kingdom has come into our lives. Help us to grow in our faith and love as we drink daily of the living water you provide.
Amen.
