Each month we pray for two of our mission partners. During June we are praying for Good News For Everyone (formerly known as The Gideons) and Bulawayo Shelter, Zimbabwe.
GNFE serves to introduce people to Jesus by the placing of and distribution of Bibles/portions of Scripture in many different areas of life both here in the UK and overseas. They are a member of the Evangelical Alliance.
Let us pray as follows:
- For those who serve for GNFE here in West Herts that there may be openings for them to share the Word of God
- For the training of Muslim-background believers in the Lebanon in sharing the Gospel with refugees and others
- In India for those displaced Christians from Manipur who have lost most of their possessions and desperately want Bibles.
Bulawayo Shelter, Zimbabwe is a charity set up in 1989 to give shelter to the destitute and food for the hungry and has faithfully tried to follow the biblical injunction made by James 2: v 14-17. The Shelter is run by a committee of volunteers from all the churches in the town and a small staff. Zimbabwe has continually had economic pressures and financial problems, making cash donations from local people almost impossible.
The money received from Sunnyside last year was extremely useful going to a variety of Shelter needs from wages to gas for cooking, food, fuel for the van, repairs and maintenance, and medicines not only for residents but also for Hilda, as the local clinic sometimes runs out of prescription drugs.
Residents
The Shelter continues to house an average of 35-40 residents and there is concern that, with the recent drought, a shortage of grain is predicted for the region so more may have to seek shelter.
Prayer Points
Thank you, Lord, for the dedicated and loyal staff of the Shelter in particular we ask:
- For your protection, support and good health for Peter in his retirement after 30 years
- For Hilda as she steps up into her role as Superintendent and for her health
- For Edgar as he shoulders new responsibilities
- For the kitchen ladies and their ongoing care for residents
- For the residents for whom the Shelter exists, for their peace, health and well-being
- For the success of the planned developments of The Sinawe Green Project and the ministry centre on the adjoining plot. That they may bolster and uplift the practical outreach of your love and care that the Bulawayo Shelter has demonstrated for over 30 years.
We pray for all these people in Your Holy Name. Amen
