We are fortunate in Sunnyside to be receiving back to back visits from two of our three Uganda-based mission partners (the Banyole Wycliffe Translators are the third) over these next two weekends.
This Sunday, 21st July, Mission Aviation Fellows’s Sam Baguma will be with us, sadly this time minus his wife and two children, Abby, Rachel and Rebecca, who have had to fly back to Kampala for the start of another school term. Paul B-W will be interviewing Sam at Sunday’s morning service. Sam can update us on the extensive relief work MAF has undertaken in the recent flood emergency in Kenya, the exciting plans for a sea plane service to improve support for the many impoverished communities living on the islands of Lake Victoria and perhaps also, to touch upon outline plans for a new airport for Mbale, one of Uganda’s largest cities, long in need of such a facility, as well as updating us on how the rest of the family are doing. Sam will also be joining our 9am Monday morning Prayer Zoom this week to speak further from 9.30 till 10am and that’s an opportunity for anyone not already on the Monday Prayer Group to join that discussion. Please contact Peter Hyatt for the Zoom link.
JENGA’s and our own Bex Henderson, who’s also been in the UK for the past several weeks and spoken to our Wednesday morning service will also be with us and speaking again at the following Sunday morning service on 28th July, about her amazing work with the Loved Children’s Centre and the encouraging community work that is being done to encourage and empower the families to which these babies and toddlers belong.
There will also be a speaker from one of our Home Missions [The Swan Youth Project] on 28th July, so this month will definitely be focusing on Gift Day – Michaelmas Sunday 29th September [our Patronal Festival].
