Each month we pray for two of our mission partners. During October we are praying for local charity Home-Start Hertfordshire, and our international focus is the Church Mission Society (CMS).

Home-Start Hertfordshire

Home-Start Hertfordshire is a small local charity that supports families in Hertfordshire. Its vision statement says that it aims to ensure that every parent has the support they need to give their children the best start in life. They put this into action by providing volunteers to work with families during their toughest times – perhaps when they are going through challenges due to poor physical/mental health, postnatal depression, bereavement, financial worries, family breakdown etc.

As well as home visits, Home-Start Hertfordshire facilitates family groups and outings. Volunteers offer compassionate, confidential help and support.

Let us pray:

• for all the families they are working with and for the volunteers, for them to have wisdom about what to say and do
• for those families that HomeStart is unable to help at the current time due to financial constraints and lack of volunteers
• for the three new trustees who have recently joined Home-Start Hertfordshire

C, V, S and G are based in Eastern Spain, where C is CEO of a Christian ministry, which supports believers further afield. These are their prayer requests:

• C asks for prayer for new believers to be strengthened in their faith and where they face being outcast from their families and persecution, that they be protected and cared for.
• V requests prayer for the food bank in their home town, for opportunities to witness to its clients and for one particular family whom they’ve met and who have recently accepted Christ into their lives.
• S tells us that there is to be a cultural fair in their hometown and that their church is taking a booth there. Pray for their witness to those with whom they come into contact.
• G is delighted that their church is starting a new youth group. Please pray for its outreach to other unchurched kids in their home town.
