Mission Focus: February 2025

Each month we pray for two of our mission partners. During February we are praying for local charity DENS, and our international focus is Wycliffe Bible Translators.

DENS

DENS aims to be the first port of call for people in Dacorum who are facing homelessness, poverty and social exclusion

Let’s give thanks for:

  • those who have been helped into employment
  • the provision of Xmas lunch to those who attended and for the festive food hampers that were delivered

Please pray for:

  • those families and individuals who are in receipt of food parcels
  • all those who use the emergency night shelter and crash pad
  • the staff and volunteers who support clients in finding employment
  • all the fundraising initiatives due to be held this year that they will be well attended and that the community would be very generous

Wycliffe Bible Translators
Sunnyside has been supporting the translation of the Bible into the Banyole language in Uganda for several years.

Update:

Having more of God’s words in their language is bringing amazing blessings to the Banyole people.

One of the Bible translators, Mathias, says: “The Bible has been a tool to unite our people and it has transformed our lives. I celebrate that people have understood that the Bible in their language is the word of God and they have surrendered their lives to God.”

The initial translation of 23 out 39 Old Testament books is now complete, with the team currently working on Leviticus. Mathias and the team are witnessing this progress of the work firsthand and are excited to share the complete Banyole Bible with their people.

Please pray for:

  • Abundant rains for the crops in the region – ‘Our harvests have been very poor… yet most of our people depend on agricultural products,’ the team explained.
  • The sharing of the Leviticus text with the community. Pray that the team will be able to incorporate feedback on the first draft of translation, so the final version will be really easily understood by everyone in the community.
  • The continued good health of the five-person Banyole Bible translation team.

Amen
