People are searching for authentic ways to live, so our lives are a vital way in which we can share the love of Jesus and show others the difference he makes to us. This Sunday we are starting a new sermon series looking at the lessons the Letter of James teaches us about the ways our faith makes a difference to how we live. Over the coming month, we will explore a number of themes in James which will take us through the whole letter. Why not take some time to read the Letter of James in one sitting? It will take about quarter of an hour.
9th February Faith that makes a difference to our lives
readings: James 1.19-27; James 2.14-26
We cannot earn God’s love but we respond to it by living as Jesus taught us. This is an act of love to God and a witness to the world.
16th February Faith that makes a difference when things are tough
readings: James 1.2-18; James 5.1-12
At a time when life is hard for many, we are reminded to persevere in our faith. Trusting in the mercy and compassion of God can help us be patient in tough times.
23rd February Faith makes a difference to our relationships
readings: James 2.1-13; James 4
Friendship with God changes how we see God, other people and ourselves. God’s love for us helps us love others and recognise their value.
2nd March Faith that makes a difference to what we say
readings: James 3; James 5.13-end
Our tongues are powerful things and the words we say matter. James helps us think about what we say in real life and online.
