Mission Focus: March 2025

Each month we pray for two of our mission partners. During March we are praying for local charity Age UK Herts, and our international focus is A Rocha International.

Age UK Herts

Age UK Herts is an independent charity working to improve later life for 1000s of older people in Hertfordshire. Among other services, they run groups to help combat loneliness and support those living with memory loss.

Prayer points:

  • give thanks for all those who volunteer their time
  • pray for more volunteers to come forward
  • pray for Age UK Herts’ training initiatives with local organisations such as banks
  • pray for all the older people living in our Parish, especially those who are isolated and lonely.

A Rocha International

Sunnyside Church is supporting A Rocha through our participation in the Eco Church project. A Rocha is a global family of conservation organisations working together to live out God’s calling to care for creation and equip others to do likewise. There are numerous programmes world wide and a mass of helpful resources. We at Sunnyside are just getting to know the organisation and build friendships with their team. Kuki Rokhum, Director of Church Engagement, wrote recently to Paul C. as Chair of Sunnnyside Gift Day International:

“I just wanted to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support of A Rocha’s work around the world. Your generosity and partnership provide incredible encouragement as we strive to care for God’s creation with the help of churches like yours across the globe. May God bless you abundantly for your kindness. We hope to continue partnering with you in the coming years as we serve together in this important mission.”

Let us pray for planet earth:

  • because we love God, and we naturally want to acknowledge God’s love for all creation
  • to share in God’s delight and concern for the whole of creation
  • because we naturally pray for what we care about, and care more for what we pray about in a virtuous circle of praying and caring, reflection and action
  • because, as we align our wills with God’s will, God forms in us a disposition to action.

Amen!
