Each month we pray for two of our mission partners. During May we are praying for local charity Open Door, and our international focus is MAP.
Open Door
Open Door is a community and arts space in Berkhamsted where people can be active, creative and social. They aim to tackle social inequality and isolation by offering a food bank and spaces for social interaction They also seek to encourage environmental awareness by offering a monthly repair café and via their outdoor space.
Prayer points:
- provision of more team – they are currently short of volunteers and staff
- for all who visit the community café and use their services – that they may feel welcomed and valued
Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAP)
Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is the world’s largest humanitarian air operator, flying medical supplies, doctors, and nurses to places no one else can reach and ensuring critical care gets to where it’s needed most. Sam & Abby Baguma are based in Kampala, Uganda. Sam’s role is the Development and Support Manager for the East Africa MAF programmes overseeing finance and legal functions in the region, as well as Deputy Country Director for Uganda. When she’s not caring for their two daughters, Rachel and Rebecca, Abby teaches at Acacia International Christian school and where Sam is also Chair of the School Board. Please pray for:
- the MAF teams in S.Sudan and DRC and for the volatile state of both countries. The DRC team are currently doing a phased return to Bunia to resume operations, while the spouses and children of the S.Sudan team are still in Kenya waiting to see how the situation progresses. Please pray for wisdom in decision making, for peace while living in limbo and for safety as they return.
- The float plane is continuing with its modifications to make it MAF Uganda ready! Please pray for all the logistics to go smoothly.
- We are having some very heavy rains this rainy season which are making the upcountry airstrips very muddy and challenging for the pilots to land on. Please pray for safety for all the planes, pilots and passengers as they land in remote locations across Uganda.
- The MAF global disaster response team are responding to the recent earthquake in Myanmar and have a team on the ground delivering supplies to communities devastated by the quake. Please pray for strength and energy for the team as they work.
- MAF’s 80th anniversary celebration which takes place in June.
